When it came to a name I just picked two words I liked saying and doing. And it all seemed to fit. Keep Collect is a company of two overlapping concepts, the practical and the pleasing; the useful and the beautiful. I hope I achieve some degree of both in everything I make.
I have been a professional bookbinder and box maker since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2007. While at university I sought work experience at The Wyvern Bindery (formally Clerkenwell Road, EC1, London). Previously self taught I offered up my poorly made notebooks (pages adorned with envelopes and pockets even then) and they took pity on me. After learning how to properly make books I was introduced to box making and that was me sold. Life made sense. A year after graduating I became their head box maker.
At The Wyvern Bindery I met so many incredible people with the most amazing ideas. I got to make wonderful things day-in day-out and had so much freedom to develop my skills. After over a decade I finally felt ready to set up my own studio. I moved to Margate in 2018 and Keep Collect was born.
And I’ve never looked back. I love being my own boss and having a one-to-one relationship with my customers. I’m a one woman show and proud of it.
